Jack Black Pure Clean Facial Cleanser review

Jack Black offer a number of face washes, including a glycolic cleanser, a beard wash and an energising face scrub. I’m going to look at the most versatile of their range, their Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser.

First off, it’s a good size. Because Jack Black are an American brand their products are measured in fluid ounces and you get 6 of them in this, which equates to 177ml. Most face washes measure between 150ml - 200ml so this sits in the middle of the size range, not bad at all.

Their website says the product is a 2-in-1 liquid cleanser and toner that removes deep-down dirt and oil for clear, smooth, shave-ready skin. Works gently, without over drying, to leave your complexion clean, hydrated, and fresh.

I’ve always been sceptical of toners especially one that comes as part of the face wash that you rinse off, but don't let that put you off.

So how does it perform? Rather well as it happens. The consistency of the cleanser is lovely. It’s got a very pleasant silky look and feel and lathers up well. It does take a bit of working in the hands to get a rich foam though.

Once on the skin it feels good, applies nicely and you don't need a huge amount. It’s worth experimenting with the amount you use vs. how long you work it into a lather; it'll last a long time if you’re cautious with how much you use.

When rinsing it’s washes off easily and left my skin feeling clean. It didn't feel tight, but on the flip side it didn't feel toned either. Importantly, it didn't feel dry either which is a bonus.

Jack Black have squeezed in seven natural ingredient, including coconut, organic sage leaf extract, witch hazel and camomile extract. Their website details the benefits.

For a premium grooming face wash the price isn’t too bad either. The 177ml version comes in at around £20 which might sound expensive but when compared with say, ClarinsMen Active Fash Wash Foaming Gel, you only get 125ml of that for the same price.

After using this every day for over a month, I recommend this product. It’s effective yet gentle on the skin, is a good size and while I’m not convinced about it’s toning properties I won't hold that against it. Thumbs up Jack Black, I’m impressed.
