Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm review

To me at least, Jack Black are relative new kids on the block when it comes to men’s skincare, at least here in the UK. I’m sure I’ve only seem their products online and in limited high street stores over the last couple of years. They offer a good range of face, shave, body and hair grooming products and for The Grooming Hut’s first Jack Black review I’ve gone for something a little different: a lip balm.

Jack Black say they are a small team with a big entrepreneurial spirit. They started their journey nearly 19 years ago (not new at all then!), and their strategy was simple: there were plenty of skincare companies that made luxury, efficacious products for women, but no one was addressing the needs of the modern man.

So, what do I think about their Intense Therapy Lip Balm I’m going to go out on a limb here and make an assumption that a lot of men don’t use lip balms. You can correct me in the comments if I’m wrong. Lip care may not be as common as face skincare but shouldn’t be ignored, especially when the balm has SPF protection like this does. It comes in a squeezable tube rather than a twist-bottom cylinder style tube, presumably because it’s a thinner balm rather than the usual hard wax-like products you may have seen before. Personally, I’m not a fan of this; I found myself squeezing it onto my finger first instead of applying directly. It just made too much mess squeezing it straight onto my lips.

Once on, it feels smooth and comfortable. A minute or two after application, presumably because of the menthol, I got a tingly feeling on my lips. I don’t like this feeling, I want a lip balm to do its job but without me knowing it’s there. I found the constant minty tingle just made me want to rub it off, which I did a few times.

It works well though and if my lips were feeling particularly dry it did make them feel softer and more comfortable. I’m keen to try it during the winter months to see if the ‘intense therapy’ really lives up to its name.

It’s at the top end price bracket at £8.00 per tube and I’m not big fan of the tingly menthol feeling but it is an affective lip balm. There are cheaper products on the market however, which do the same thing.
