ClarinsMen Super Moisture Gel review

Super Moisture Gel is new to the ClarinsMen collection, along with the other super moisture products: Super Moisture Balm, and Super Moisture Lotion. With the gel, Clarins claim you’ll get 24-hour hydration with a highly refreshing and non-sticky application.

I’ve been using it for a few months in the morning, and I have to say straight from the start that it’s an impressive all day moisturiser. The gel is classic ClarinsMen blue, smooth to the touch and non-greasy. It applies nicely and a little does go a long way - useful when a single 50ml bottle will cost you £30.

It has a subtle yet familiar fragrance and feels lovely on my skin. Not greasy at all and gives a full days moisturising with no dryness or stickiness and no oiliness even after a muggy summers day here in the UK.

It is sold purely as a ‘super moisture’ product, there are no anti-ageing claims and no toning benefits and here lies it’s only problem: it’s a premier product, with a premium price tag but only promises added moisture to your skincare routine. Don't get me wrong, moisture is important, but there are an abundance of men’s moisturisers out there that claim the same but at half the price.

The question you need to ask yourself is does that matter when it does what it claims to do so well? Honestly, I don’t think it does. I would take a product that does one thing well, over one than promises the world and fails - hands up who’s tried an expensive ‘toning, anti-aging moisturiser’ just to find that it’s no better than a basic high street equivalent?

Price aside, this is a very accomplished daily moisturiser that is effective and reliable.
